30-Day Prayer Challenge, Day 2

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words” ‭(Matthew‬ ‭6:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬).

Thoughts on Day 1
I’ll be honest. Even though I have experienced extended times of prayer in the past, I was slightly intimidated by 5 minutes. I talk to God many times throughout the day, but it is random and sporadic.

I set the timer on my phone to 5 minutes and began to talk to Him about my desire to know Him better. I asked for guidance for this blog and a few other things. I had only paused to listen for a few seconds when the alarm sounded. I’m looking forward to today’s time with God.

The Verse

Our verse for the day is really an encouragement to just be real with God. You can speak with Him just as you would with any friend. Be open and honest. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that using spiritual language will get you closer to Him. He wants your heart, not just your head.

When you speak with Him, you aren’t having a conversation with the dime-store Santa. He doesn’t need to be convinced that He should love you. He already does!

Blessings on your day!
