“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalms 34:4 ESV).
Thoughts On Yesterday’s Challenge
I went to bed late last night because I could sleep in this morning. As a result, I was again late for my “appointment”. But my prayer time was good. I haven’t found it a struggle to pray for 5 minutes; and when my alarm went off I continued to pray for another minute or so. My prayers are still largely focused on direction. Direction for my prayer life. Direction for this blog. Direction for other things that are important to me. I’ve told the Lord that getting closer to Him is a priority, but not praying at my appointed time really says otherwise. I’ll pray that God will help me to make Him a greater priority in my life.
The Verse
Today’s verse amwe to mind as I thought about the verses I’m familiar with on the subject of prayer. We often come to God when things get really tough, when we come to our the end of our own strength, when we have exhausted all other avenues of help. And God does desire to help us in our time of need. But He really should be our first thought. We should come to Him for His guidance and His help even before we have tried anything else.
The Psalmist had some troubles in his life, but his inclination was to seek the Lord. And the Lord was there for him.
As our prayer lives grow, may we learn to seek God first in all things.
Blessings on your day!
