“And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them” (Luke 18:1, 7 ESV)?
Thoughts On Yesterday’s Challenge And The Verse
It can be difficult persevering in prayer when you don’t see results or receive the answer for which you are looking. Sometimes it can seem as though you are banging on a locked door or standing on an ocean beach screaming to someone on the other sided. Impossible.
It is easy to become discouraged when you don’t see the answers to your prayers, especially when you are just getting started with prayer.
The verses above sandwich a parable about a widow seeking justice from a judge. The parable takes up only eight verses, so I encourage you to give it a read.
To boil it down quickly, the widow continually asks the judge to help her in her case. He ends up giving her the assistance she desires because he got tired of her pestering him. Jesus points out that if the judge, who cared nothing for the woman, gave her what she wanted, why wouldn’t God answer the prayers of His people.
Remember this parable when it seems that you are not getting answers to your prayer; and keep praying!
Blessings on your day!
