All That Glitters Is Not God!

“Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them” (Deuteronomy 11:16 ESV).

There are so many beautiful, wonderful and just plain cool things in this world of ours. There are things that may scratch an immediate itch, but leave scars in their wake. And often it is painfully easy to justify our desire, need, for that new truck, laptop, fancy phone, boat, house…the list could go on.

The point is not that we never need new things; just that it’s easy to be distracted by the things of this world. It’s only natural (sin natural!) for things to steal our gaze from Jesus.

There’s nothing inherently wrong about things. We just need to do a good heart check before we get more, make certain that the latest bobble isn’t taking your eyes off of Him.

Blessings on your day!
