30-Day Prayer Challenge, Day 26

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” (Psalms 34:8 ESV).

The Challenge

Well, yesterday was a rough day for me. I had a lot of things go wrong, and my frustration level just kept rising. I hadn’t set any reminders, as it isn’t often a problem for me to reconnect several times throughout the day.

But we will all have bad days. We will all have times when stress gets to us and pushes us down. But we all can and must get back up. We will always find Jesus reaching His hand down to help us up.

The Verse

I have a sweet tooth. I have a mouthful of sweet teeth! If I can reward myself for something with ice cream or chocolate, I usually avail myself of the opportunity. I don’t have to wonder if I will enjoy them; I know from experience that they are good.

God wants us to enjoy Him in similar fashion. God has done some pretty wonderful things for me throughout my life. I know that He is good! I can call to memory those times and once again find joy and strength in Christ.

Conversely, I have been known, on occasion, to use sweets as an escape. A place to find some temporary relief from real life. But it is only temporary.

When we take refuge in God, however, we get both the goodness of God, and the comfort and protection, that are found in His presence.

And remembering that we are always in His presence is what this week’s challenge has been all about.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” (Psalms 34:8 ESV).

Have a blessed weekend enjoying Him!
