“And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done” (Genesis 2:2, ESV).
Here we are introduced to a concept that played a huge role in the lives of Jews for millennia, rest. The word for “rested” has the same root as the word Sabbath.
God wanted us to grasp the importance of the concept of rest, so he modeled it for us. If it’s important to the creator of all things, there’s probably something to it, right?
The root word means to cease.
Think of two or three things in your life that you need to cease, or take rest from, in order to “recharge your batteries.”
Blessings on your day!
